THEY ARRIVED ON TUESDAY THE 16th of December 2008
|
Thank
You!!!!!
Volvo Penta.
For the fantastic engines you have delivered, for
these three Ellings E4. I was on the Elling with the name “Valentina” with the
D6 435 Hp in it (and a Volvo Penta D1 spare engine). I have slept wonderful on
the soft sound of a sewing machine in the side cabin directly next to the
engine (of course with the eight layers of different insulation materials
between us). The fuel economy of this D6
engine was very good: An average of 1.05 liter per mile at an average
speed of 7 knots. Sometimes we went full speed (for fun, but we told each other
that it was to clean the turbo) and it was a fantastic feeling, surfing from a
wave at 22 knots on a small vessel in the middle of the ocean.
Raymarine Navigation systems.
For the user friendly navigation systems on board. The
auto Pilot has kept us on track during the whole trip. We have never had to
touch the steering wheel from Santa Cruz de La Palma till Phillipsburg on St.
Martin.
The G 150 series Plotter with the Digital 4” open
scanner and the GPM 400 Processor with all the world maps in it gave us great
pleasure. First of all for navigation purposes but during the lone watch
periods in the night also for exploring areas where you sometimes dream of,
like the Amazone river in Brazil. All the details are shown on the thousands of
maps.
I could switch over the equipment from Dutch (in the
night during my watch period) to Russian (in the night during the Russian
owner’s watch period) and to English during the day, in not more than a few
seconds. Very user friendly.
Onan Generators.
For the meals that I was able to cook during our trip
on the power of the generator: Bacon and eggs in the morning, steak, potatoes
(from can) and vegetables (from can) and not to forget the dorado we caught.
Mastervolt Charger, Invertor and gel-batteries
For the Tea
Coffee and Cup-a-Soup, we were able to make on the 220 volt power of your 1500
Watt Inverter, without having to start the generator.
Rhigo bv
For the double glazed CE category A certified windows.
Werkvreugde bv
For the sturdy (38 mm) handrail around the boat. It
gives really a safe feeling, to hold on to that railing, every time we went to
and from the foredeck. Even the 6 fuel
barrels were secured to the railing on the aft deck.
Tejin Twaron
For the superfiber that protects the hull against
impacts, for instance an impact after a collision with a floating container.
Luckily we didn’t have such an encounter (we only saw a floating steel drum),
but the thought about the Twaron reinforced hull gave us a good peace of mind.
Ritmeester BV
For the fantastic pieces of woodwork that your
craftsman produce for the Elling. And for the very good cooperation and
relationship we had over the past 12 years.
MG and AG Timmerbedrijven
For your contribution to the furniture in the pilot
house and the owners cabins.
De Jong Stoffering
For the luxury and comfortable upholstery which gave
us good support, even in five meter waves.
Wuyten Sails
For the bimini top and spray hood, which protected us
against the tropical sun shine.
And all other suppliers
Such as Vetus, Exalto, Webasto, Edaircon, ASA,
Bellship, Boomsma, DLA and many others who I might have forgotten to mention
here.
All Elling owners
Who have supported me with wishes and advises, with
ideas and improvements over the past twelve years.
But in the first place all Neptune Marine shipbuilding
craftsmen and staff
For making of what is in my opinion (especially after
this trip):
THE BEST BOAT IN THE WORLD !
Which other power boat builder in the world would put
three brand new boats of their own yard in the water and take them immediately
for a trans Atlantic sea trial with their owners?
This is only possible, because I trust in your
craftsmanship, experience, dedication and responsibility.
And last but not least I want to thank my lovely wife
and my four kids
For all the support they gave me before and during
this trip. I can tell you that taking care of a household with four kids and a
husband that is always travelling is the most heavy job in the world. Thank
you!
